Fish drying method changes lives in Burundi

An FAO project to equip small fishing communities with the tools and know-how to dry fish on simple raised racks instead of on the sand has changed lives along the shores of Lake Tanganyika in Burundi.

To promote awareness of the importance of climate information products and services for fisheries - both capture and aquaculture - the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) as the lead organization of the Global Framework for Climate Services (GFCS), coorganized with FAO a side event at the fifteenth meeting of the United Nations Informal Consultative Process on Oceans and the Law of the Sea (ICP) whose theme is the role of seafood and global food security.
